Network Tokenization
Network Tokenization is a security and optimization technology where card networks (Visa Token Service, Mastercard Digital Enablement Service) replace the Primary Account Number (PAN) with a network-level token.
Unlike PSP-level tokenization, network tokens are recognized by issuers, resulting in higher authorization rates (typically 2-5% improvement), automatic card updates when a card is reissued, and reduced fraud liability. Network tokens are domain-restricted, meaning a token issued for one merchant cannot be used at another.
